A Time Like No Other
Episode 6 - Martha
Episode 6 of A Time Like No Other features Rachel Hardy portraying Martha.
As followers of Jesus go, Martha was quite faithful. We used many of her statements of faith throughout her monologue. Most notably is the faith statement: "You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world" [John 11:27]. This phrase is profound, when we consider many other followers were not yet able to vocalize such a phrase. We believe Martha was a thinker, and probably spent hours thinking and working. We chose to represent her at the inflection point between head language about Jesus and heart language of faith. Showing her both having moments of tears interspersed with statements of profound faith in whatever God wills through this experience. This of course brings Martha into our lives as one who knows what we go through as believers caught in the same head and heart tug-o-war.
